Film and commercial directors Carlyn Hudson and Drew Xanthopoulos have joined Revelator, a creative video production company headquartered in Austin. The two directors will join company partners Matt Muir and Chris Ohlson at the video services boutique, which specializes in storytelling for corporate projects and has its roots in the Austin indie film scene. Both Hudson and Xanthopoulos will direct upcoming Revelator video projects for both agency and B2B clients.
Prior to Revelator, Hudson was a freelance director for TV commercials, narrative, and documentary films. With seven years of experience, she has worked with commercial clients including Vice, Verizon, Dell, and Legos, and has been involved in the production of TV series such as Richard Linklater’s Up to Speed for Hulu and A&E’s Shipping Wars. She also co-produced Andrew Bujalski’s Computer Chess (Sundance 2013) and was the casting director for his latest effort, Results (Magnolia Pictures). Hudson programs the popular indie film series Cinema East and is currently in postproduction on her first feature comedy, The Big Spoon.
Xanthopoulos’ main areas of focus are documentary projects and commercial cinematography. He has created numerous pieces that have premiered at Sundance, SXSW, Edinburgh International Film Festival, and AFI Docs. He was a recipient of the IFP’s Documentary Spotlight and Tribeca Film Institute’s Documentary Grant for his forthcoming documentary feature, The Sensitives. Xanthopoulos’ award-winning short film, Western Brothers’ Adventure Story, has also been implemented into the educational programs for The Young Storytellers Foundation in Los Angeles and the Vimeo Video School. His documentary production experience will benefit lifestyle video services provided by Revelator.
