Eric David Johnson, aka DJ Bunny Ears, is joining McCann Erickson in New York as executive music producer, with responsibility for overseeing music production for the agency’s portfolio of clients. The news was announced by Nathy Aviram, director of integrated production.
Johnson is a musician, filmmaker, writer, artist, photographer, director, producer, and DJ. In addition to a career as an independent artist, he has spent some 14 years in the advertising business as the music man at Wieden + Kennedy, Y&R in NY and DDB in Chicago. Most recently he served as executive producer at Search Party Music, specializing in music-centric ideas for film, TV and branded content, including original music composition, licensing and placement.
Over the years, Johnson has musically contributed to many of the world’s most famous brands, including Nike, Coke and Diet Coke, Target, Pepisco, Microsoft, Budweiser, McDonald’s, Nokia, Honda, Land Rover, Starbucks, Oreo, TED and Bacardi.
McCann has a long history of in-house music production beginning in 1968 when Motown’s Roquel Billy Davis, later elected to the Advertising Hall of Fame, became the agency’s first music director.
