THE SPOTS
The :30 "Choices" opens on a man sitting behind the wheel of a red sports car in a showroom. As he revels in his fantasy of hitting the open road in the vehicle, the spot cuts to his reality: his wife and four kids standing next to a more practical minivan. The voiceover points out, "Life is filled with tempting choices," as three new Friendly’s Supermelts are introduced. In "Tall/Short" (:30), a girl who is taller than her boyfriend happens upon a series of similar "mismatches," such as a Ford Excursion and a Mini Cooper on the street. Eventually they wind up at Friendly’s, where the ice cream and burgers are a perfect match.
"Choices" broke Feb. 23, and "Tall/Short" began airing April 26.
