THE SPOTS
Four spots showcase the new sport utility vehicle, the Chevy Equinox. In the teaser spot, "Car Cover Itch" (:15), the camera pans along a street to find an Equinox parked at the curb, with a sheet covering the top of the vehicle. Recalling the famous scene from The Seven Year Itch starring Marilyn Monroe, air blows up from a grate below the car, causing the cover to flutter upward, revealing a choice piece of sheet metal. Three subsequent :30s follow a couple as they buy an Equinox, with each spot highlighting a different aspect of the vehicle. In "Test Drive," the couple becomes amorous in the backseat, as a car salesman sitting up front grows impatient. In "Stickies," a man finds a series of notes that have been placed in the car. Initially he thinks his wife is proposing a romantic interlude, since the notes instruct him to fold down the back seat, but he’s ultimately disappointed when he finds his wife’s nightgown and a note telling him to "Go to the cleaners." And in "Doors," the couple drives along a suburban street, causing their neighbors’ garage doors to spring open. "Introducing the Chevy Equinox," says the voiceover. "Every garage will want one."
Spots broke in May.
