THE SPOT
"Sins" uses the theme of the Seven Deadly Sins to describe the allure of the 2005 Jaguar XL Long Wheelbase. The :30 opens on the gleaming hood of a black Jag. The word "sins" glides over the vehicle’s ridges and reflects onto the car. As the image of the hood fades to the rearview mirror, the first color in the mostly black-and-white ad appears in a flash of red, as the word "lust" comes into focus and then fades. The camera continues to move over the Jaguar’s details, and the words "wrath," "pride" and "envy" appear, with single letters in each word showing up in color (purple for "pride," yellow for "wrath" and green for "envy"). At the spot’s close, the camera runs along the face of the Jaguar as the eighth "sin" appears: "The all-new XJ8L. Can you resist?"
Spot broke Sept. 13.
