THE SPOTS
Two :30s feature people who can’t get on with their day until they have their cup of Eight O’Clock Coffee. "Whistler" shows a man dragging himself out of bed early in the morning. As he heads down to the kitchen, he tries several times to whistle, with no success. However, after having his first cup of Eight O’Clock Coffee, he’s able to perform his whistling, as a title card reads, "Steve Herbst, International Whistling Entertainer of the Year." In "Basketball," a woman wakes from her slumber and gets into her routine. Along the way, she tosses items but misses the mark each time (toothbrush into holder, clothing into hamper). Finally, after misjudging where the coffee should go into the pot’s filter, she enjoys a brewed Eight O’Clock Coffee. Leaving the house, she throws a basketball over her shoulder and directly into the hoop in her driveway. "Diana Taurasi, WNBA Rookie of the Year 2004" reads the title card.
