Dean Pelton not only stars in Texas Rangers spot, but cuts Alfa Romeo spot!
In an unusual scenario, charlieuniformtango editor, Dean Pelton, not only starred in one Super Bowl spot, but also edited another. Pelton appeared as Jeff in the Texas Rangers spot, and edited the “Dear Predictable” spot for Alfa Romeo. Both aired during Super Bowl LI.
“I’m so proud of our whole team,” said Lola Lott, charlieuniformtango principal/CEO, “They really pulled together to make these spots happen. It’s thrilling to participate in any Super Bowl ads, and we worked on two for Super Bowl LI – which turned out to be a history making game.”
The Rangers partnered with TM Advertising and charlieuniformtango to create the campaign that puts a spin on the classic tune “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” The Super Bowl spot which launched the campaign features Vaden Todd Lewis, lead singer of The Toadies, an alternative rock band that hails from Fort Worth, Texas.
Dean Pelton portrayed the hero of the launch spot as Jeff, a sports fan who is bummed football is through, but is pulled out of his misery thanks to Rangers baseball.
Dean cut Alfa Romeo’s “Dear Predictable” spot for The Richards Group. It featured a voiceover by Lisa Loeb declaring that she found a "permanent escape from monotony," while Alfa Romeo's new Giulia sedan is shown racing at breakneck speeds.
“I have a background in theater so I was comfortable with the whole process of acting in the Rangers spot,” Dean Pelton said. “It was a great experience to work with a team I have collaborated with before, plus it was fun to be in the commercial instead of cutting it. It was a nice change of pace.”
About the Alfa Romeo spot, Dean said, “It was a real team effort, and it didn’t really sink in that I was cutting a nationwide Super Bowl spot until I sat down with friends and family to watch the game.”
