We are thrilled to have kicked off the 56th year of publication for SHOOT Magazine in December. As we do each year, we renew our mission to provide commercial and entertainment industry production and post decision-makers with the latest industry news, valuable information on established and up-and-coming talent, the best new work and the people, companies and technology behind the work and cover industry events, film festivals and award shows. As we continue to invest in and grow SHOOT's high-impact digital platforms SHOOTonline.com, The SHOOT Publicity Wire, MySHOOT and email newsletters The SHOOT>e.diton, Brand New[s], ScreenWork and The SHOOT Dailies, we are pleased to announce the continued publication of six print issues of SHOOT Magazine in 2017. As many print publications have fallen by the wayside over the years, it's a great pleasure to be able to publish this important mainstay on the production scene for more than five decades. With each print issue, we also publish a PDF version that is available on SHOOTonline.com for additional readers to view/download. Readers who have grown up in their careers reading SHOOT regularly tell us of SHOOT Magazine's continued influence. Here's a very small sampling of recent comments…..
David Cardinali, Executive Broadcast Producer, Droga5 “When I began producing in 2006 as an agency producer. SHOOT remains a yardstick publication for unparalleled craft insight.”
Andy Clarke, Executive Creative Director, Publicis New York “The early 1990’s. I was an Art Director in Singapore. To this day, I find it a source of inspiration.”
Brett Craig, Executive Creative Director, Deutsch LA “I started reading SHOOT in 2000 as a junior copywriter. It was a great way to know what was going on out there in terms of great work and who was doing it. It still is.”
Tom Dunlap, Chief Production Officer, 72andSunny “I started reading SHOOT in June of 1997 when I started as a Broadcast Production Intern at TBWAChiatDay with absolutely no production experiences whatsoever. Richard O’Neill, Director of Broadcast Production, sensed my naivety and handed me a copy saying “First step, become a student of the industry.”
Tom Lorenzo, Executive Creative Director, Situation “I was introduced to SHOOT by a fellow Creative Director about 5 years ago. It’s been on my go-to reading list ever since.”
David Rolfe, Director of Integrated Production, BBDO New York ”I landed in Miami on the agency production-side of the biz in '97 and SHOOT was my navigation and inspiration tool. I read every word for years. I stress virtual-producing all the time: what you didn't actually do, you might as well know (and then pretend you did). SHOOT can give you that.”
