Oink Ink Radio, a boutique advertising agency specializing in the creation and production of award winning radio commercials, announced today it’s call for entries to its annual Dead Radio Contest.
The competition solicits advertising writers to submit their best “dead” scripts for consideration (scripts that clients previously deemed not worthy of production). A panel of judges comprised of industry leaders from both the U.S. and abroad then selects the grand prize-winner who is treated to an expense-paid trip to Oink’s New York City studios, where they enjoy a 2-night hotel stay and experience the full production of their winning script.
This year’s contest features a highly decorated panel of judges. They’re from the U.S., Europe, Australia and Asia. They’ve chaired radio awards at Cannes, One Show, Clios and LIAA. Three have won Mercury Grand Prizes, one was twice awarded Best of Show at The London International Awards, and there will even be a two-time Dead Radio winner present.
This year’s Dead Radio Contest takes on a unique theme with a CPR vibe that boasts, “It only takes a few minutes to save a script’s life.” The website invites participants to “dig out and dust off your best radio scripts for possible resuscitation by the life savers at Oink Ink.”
Last year’s Dead Radio winner was Joe O’Neill, a Senior Copywriter with Manifest Communications in Toronto, Canada and the competition’s first ever two-time winner. His spot entitled “The First Time” was written for Covenant House and was selected from hundreds of entries from copywriters from across the U.S. and beyond.
“We’re beyond excited for this year’s contest,” says Oink’s President, Dan Price. “While we always have great judges participate, this year we’re thrilled to have the world’s biggest radio advertising icons on board. People like Tony Hertz (author of “The 7 Secrets of Creative Radio Advertising”) and Ralph van Dijk (Eardrum/Australia) make the most formidable radio panel ever assembled.”
This year's submission deadline is December 4th. Contest details can be found on the Dead Radio Contest Website (www.oinkcreative.com/deadradio), or by contacting Sarah Altepeter (contest@oinkradio.com | 212-334-5800).
