Actor Jeff Bridges has just donated his photograph capturing Robin Williams jam for the cast and crew of The Fisher King to City Hearts’ 4th Annual Fresh Focus Photo Auction, November 1st at The Leica Gallery in West Hollywood. Proceeds from the auction benefit this 30-year-old non-profit organization that sponsors arts programs for Inner City youth.
Robin Williams was a force to be reckoned with on and off the set. A consummate performer and gentle-man, he could sense tension and find ways to help people blow it off whether through one of his outrageous practical jokes or, as on The Fisher King, by letting the crazy person out and making everyone laugh or cry until they forgot what was bothering them. “When the going got rough, Robin would often plant his feet and jam, pulling things out of his soul to make us laugh at ourselves,” Bridges says.
Bridges was recognized for his skill as a photographer through a Special Presentation at the International Center for Photography’s 29th Infinity Awards. His stark, black & white images capture candid moments from the sets of his films in unique, funny and moving ways. Bridges is proud to contribute to City Hearts’ 4th Annual Fresh Focus Photo Auction. “I support the great art programs of City Hearts,” he says. “I believe they are enriching children's lives for the better.”
The City Hearts’ 4th Annual Fresh Focus Photo Auction will feature photographs from many renowned commercial and fine art photographers, studio and celebrity photographers. In addition to Bridges the event will feature works from Doug Kirkland, Herb Ritts, Greg Gorman, George Hurrell, Leigh Wiener, Eli Reed, Anthony Friedkin, Julia Dean, Michael Semaan, Helen K. Garber, Ruven Afanador, Jenny Okun, Brian Leatart, and a recent addition from the late Walter Rosenblum’s 1930s New York series. High-profile Members of the American Society of Cinematographers such as Emmanuel Lubezki, Richard Crudo, Russell Carpenter, David Darby, James Chressanthis, Charlie Lieberman and Steven Poster have donated still photography from their gallery showings.
