charlieuniformtango is gearing up to turn 20 this year. Plans for a big celebration for the company’s clients, employees, families and friends is planned for Friday, October 2, 2015. An outdoor party in the plaza of One Arts Plaza in Dallas’ thriving Arts District is planned, with a live band, food from Jorge’s Tex-Mex CafĂ© and Sakhuu, Deep Eddy cocktails, and Topo Chico sparkling water.
Willie Baronet’s exhibit, “We Are All Homeless” will also be on display in the One Arts Plaza commercial lobby during the event. Baronet is former owner and creative director of GroupBaronet. GroupBaronet created the name “charlieuniformtango” and designed the company’s first logo.
The celebration kicked-off September 1, 2015 with the hanging of three 24’ high banners on the front of One Arts Plaza. The banners were designed by students at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
35 students submitted original concepts celebrating charlieuniformtango’s anniversary. charlietango graphic designers, David Slack and Tony Wann, gave the students direction. Lola and Todd Lott of charlietango and Steven Grant, Director of Marketing for Billingsley Company, were involved in the judging. The winning banners will be on display for three months as a part of One Arts Plaza’s creative initiative and partnership with Booker T. Washington and surrounding Arts District stakeholders.
“Talent, talent everywhere. The Booker T. Washington students are talent just waiting to burst out and charlietango is a team living lives of great creativity,” said Lucy Billingsley, Partner, Billingsley Company.
The three winning students are: Brett Akop, Nik Hermanovski, and Halle Van De Hey. Lizette Ayala, also a Booker T. student, designed a 20th Anniversary logo that has been used on all celebration materials. Paige Furr, Sculpture/3D instructor and Visual Arts Coordinator for the school, said, “We’re delighted to be involved in this event. The students’ work is brilliant. We’re so proud of the talent we have here at Booker T. These banners are bigger-than-life proof of that.”
Fine art magazine, Foreground, will publish a story and produce a podcast on the four winning students and their artwork. Margaret Brown, publisher of Foreground will also present a cash prize to each winning student at the October 2nd party.
charlieuniformtango Principal/President Lola Lott, said, “All the artwork submitted was so beautiful, it was a difficult decision. We’re grateful to the students for participating in our celebration. We’re very excited about our 20th anniversary, and thank our clients for continuing to support us.”
