Word is that Michael Bodnarchek, co-president/CEO of A Band Apart, Los Angeles, has departed the production company. In a related development, Jeff Armstrong, who previously held the title of executive producer at A Band Apart, has been promoted to managing director of music videos and commercials….The ABC TV network has entered into a program development deal with media agency Mindshare North America, a unit of WPP Group. The two firms’ initial focus will be on creating scripted series designed to appeal to family audiences. Per the arrangement, ABC and Mindshare will share in development costs. Earlier this year, Mindshare hired former CBS Entertainment president Peter Tortorici, who is now slated to work with ABC and Mindshare clients on the TV program initiative. He is based in Mindshare’s Los Angeles office. Lol Crawley Wins British Society of Cinematographers’ Feature Film Award For “The Brutalist”
For his work on The Brutalist, Lol Crawley, BSC has earned Best Cinematography in a Feature Film at the 69th British Society of Cinematographers Awards on Saturday evening (2/1). The awards ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel was emceed by Edith Bowman and drew some 450 attendees.
This marked Crawleyโs first BSC Award win--for his first career nomination.
In the Television Drama (UK Terrestrial) category, Jody Lee Lipes, ASC won for his work on the BBC drama The Listeners. Lipes was the winner in 2023 (for an episode of Dead Ringers) and becomes the first cinematographer to win back to back awards in the Television category. In the Television Drama (International/Streaming) category, Benedict Spence, BSC won his first award for his photography of the Netflix miniseries Eric.
In the newly launched Cinematography In A Music Video category, Daniel Landin BSC was named the winner for his work on the FKA twigs music video โEusexua.โ
The Operators Award, presented by the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC), Association of Camera Operators (ACO) and Guild of British Camera Technicians (GBCT),named Karsten Bloch Jacobsen, DFF and Simon Finney, ACO Assoc BSC the winners for their operating on the film Wicked and in the Television category Chris Plevin ACO Assoc BSC, Robert Patzelt and Michael Ole Nielson were victorious for their work on the HBO show True Detective: Night Country.
As for the competitionโs two Short Film categories, Edward Hamilton-Stubber took Best Student Short Film for his National Film and Television School graduation film, Tapeworm. In the BSC Club category Jon Muschamp was victorious for his short film Bookyville.
