“Cartoni represents the pinnacle in camera support,” says Cartoni USA president Steve Manios. “The company holds 33 patents and is committed to the highest standards for design and manufacturing. And now, with our 80 Years: 80+ Rebate Program, it’s the best time ever to step up to Cartoni!”
Cartoni was founded in 1935, when cinematographer Renato Cartoni invented the first flywheel, pan-head tripod. His invention quickly became the standard for documentary and news operations and by World War II, most Italian cameramen were equipped with Cartoni heads and tripods.
Under the leadership of Renato’s son, Guido Cartoni, the company became a thriving international business. By the 1970s, Cartoni products were in use across Europe and became synonymous with innovation, quality and performance. Cartoni USA launched in 1990. Two years later, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognized Cartoni with a Scientific & Technical Award, noting, “The work of Dr. Cartoni set the standard for one of the most popular methods of achieving selectable and repeatable viscous drag used in the tripod industry.”
Today, Cartoni offers a versatile family of camera support products including SmartPro and FocusHD for DSLR and 4K cameras, Gamma for ENG cameras, Master for digital cinematography and Omega for studio broadcast, as well as a wide variety of tripods, pedestals and specialty camera supports.
