This spot gives new meaning to the notion that frequenting fast food restaurants can prove deleterious to your health. A toddler is seen playing underneath the table at a fast food eatery. Sitting at the booth are another young child in a booster seat, and an adult, presumably the parent of both kids.
We see the toddler curiously exploring his below-the-table environment. The adult is oblivious to this play, which takes an unappetizing turn when something above him captivates the youngster. The kid pulls on a wad of chewed gum stuck to the bottom of the table, stretching it out and having a grand old time. Choosing to eat from under, as opposed to over, the table, the child is about to put the gum in his mouth.
Over the action a pair of supers interjects: "If there’s a way to get sick" / "they’ll find it." As the toddler begins chewing the gum, it falls out of his mouth, onto the floor. Clearly he’s about to sample his discovery again as this slice-of-life concludes. An identifying super shows the "St. Augustine Medicaid by AvMed" logo, underscoring the need for a family to have access to capable, caring health care professionals and resources. St. Augustine is a Medicaid vendor/distributor health plan.
"Fast Food" is part of a three-spot campaign out of agency Crispin Porter+Bogusky Advertising, Miami. The creative team consisted of creative director Alex Bogusky, copywriter Brian Tierney, art director Alex Burnard and producer Sara Gennett Lopez.
Christian Loubek of bicoastal HKM Productions directed and shot the campaign. His support team included executive producer Lisa Prentis Margulis and producer Sharon Reid.
The spot was cut by a pair of mono-monikered editors: Katz of Cosmo Street, Santa Monica, and Namakula of Final Cut, New York. Colorist was Jeff Pillotson of Flying Spot, Seattle. Manhattan Transfer-Miami provided online post services. Audio mixer was Steve Johnston of Outpost Audio, Miami.
