Directors John St. Clair and Warren Kushner have signed with bicoastal Bedford Falls….Little Minx, the Los Angeles-headquartered hybrid commercial/music video house under the aegis of executive producer Rhea Rupert, has entered into an association with bicoastal RSA USA. Additionally, Little Minx has added director Curtis Wehrfritz for exclusive U.S. representation. He joins a directorial roster that also consists of Malik Sayeed, Young Kim, Andrew Dosunmu and the helming team of Mark Seliger and Fred Woodward. Per the Little Minx/RSA deal, Rupert’s shop can tap into RSA’s resources, including its sales force. Conversely, RSA gains an infusion of up-and-coming directing talent. While Little Minx will continue to have its own separate Midwest representation via Chicago-based Catherine DeAngelis, the shop will link with RSA USA’s spot reps on both coasts: Michael DiGirolamo on the West Coast, and Phillip Fox-Mills on the East Coast. For music videos, Little Minx will gain representation via bicoastal Black Dog Films, RSA’s music video arm, headed by executive producer Catherine Finkenstaedt and creative director Kim Dellara….Director Gregory Dark, formerly of Santa Monica-based FM Rocks, has joined Atlas Pictures, Santa Monica….Director Doug Taub has joined Green Dot Films, Santa Monica….Henry artist/visual effects supervisor Alex Brodie and effects producer Christine Carr have joined Company 3, Santa Monica. London Critics Name “The Brutalist” The Film of the Year
The Brutalist, Brady Corbetโs immigrant saga, won the Film of the Year prize at the 45th London Criticsโ Circle Film Awards.
While The Brutalist garnered just one award, it was the marquee honor. Meanwhile Nickel Boys, Conclave and A Real Pain all receivd multiple awards, and Zoe Saldaรฑa was honored twice.
Edward Bergerโs Vatican thriller Conclave took two awards for British/Irish Film of the Year and Actor of the Year for Ralph Fiennes, while RaMell Rossโs radical Colson Whitehead adaptation Nickel Boys was recognized with Director of the Year and the Technical Achievement Award for Jomo Frayโs first-person cinematography. Jesse Eisenbergโs dark comedy A Real Pain was the nightโs other multiple prizewinner, landing Screenwriter of the Year for the actor-filmmaker, and Supporting Actor of the Year for co-star Kieran Culkin.
Payal Kapadiaโs Mumbai-set drama All We Imagine as Light was named Foreign Language Film of the Year, while the Palestinian-Israeli collective behind No Other Land took Documentary of the Year.
Alongside Conclave, British productions awarded by the Circle in the top categories included Mike Leighโs intimate character study Hard Truths, which took Actress of the Year for Marianne Jean-Baptiste, while Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl was named Animated Feature of the Year.
