The Colony has added directing duo XY Content to its international roster. The pair has created branded content for clients including Microsoft, Urban Outfitters, Converse, IBM and National Geographic.
Habib Yazdi and Frank Holliday of XY Content first came together to create prank films on their college campus. They rode up and down their college dorm elevators with fruits and veggies stuffed into their whitey tighties, capturing responses, and have had fun making sketch shows, films, documentaries and music videos together ever since. Frank is now an award winning cinematographer shooting feature films, commercials and music videos. The Sam Roberts Band video he shot won an MMVA for "Best Rock/Alternative Video of the Year."
Their work together has been singled out by the New York Fashion Film Festival and the Memphis Music Video awards while their film, “Somewhere in America," has garnered mention in countless publications including Interview Magazine, Marie Claire, Glamour, Huffington Post and The Times. The team has already shot in over fifteen countries across five continents.
XY Content completed post production on their first project since signing with The Colony – a commercial for the popular immersive theatre experience, “Queen of the Night.” To shoot the spot, the duo bought motorcycle helmets, then drilled through them to create their own helmet cams. Guests at the show assumed that they were part of the event. “They wanted to dance and party with us while we were filming, which led to some of our most fun and natural shots."
“We love to do work that captures authentic moments,” say XY’s Yazdi and Holliday. “Spending time with our subjects, digging deep into the brief, and developing relationships with the people we work with, that’s what makes it great for us.”
