Providing Sports Marketing Opportunities as an Additional Resource to their Roster of Artists
Primary Wave Music, a leading independent music marketing, talent management and music publishing company, has finalized a strategic alignment with Emmy® award-winning sports producer Charles Coplin. As a top sports programming and production executive known for connecting a-list acts with top-notch sporting events, Coplin will bring his decades of experience working with the NFL and NHL to this new partnership and become an in-house resource into the world of sports television and entertainment. Additionally, this new joint venture will specifically help create sports marketing opportunities for Primary Wave’s talent management roster, which includes artist such as CeeLo Green and Melissa Etheridge, plus, Natalie Imbruglia, Eric Benet, Trevor Jackson, Cris Cab, and EDM star Audien, among many others.
"It’s great to be partnering with Charles and creating synergy between our roster of artists and his expertise in the sports industry," explains Larry Mestel, CEO of Primary Wave Music. "In music today, it's important for artists to expand their brand beyond just the music industry and this will be yet another strong asset that Primary Wave can provide to artists."
Charles Coplin spent a decade at the National Football League, where his responsibilities included launching the NFL Network as the Head of Programming in 2004 and also Executive in Charge of the Kickoff and Super Bowl Halftime shows. In this capacity, Coplin oversaw entertainment for the NFL, in partnership with CBS, Fox and NBC, which included shows from Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones, working closely with the network’s sports presidents as well as band managers, lawyers, and record label executives. Coplin was also responsible for U2 and Green Day playing together at the reopening of the New Orleans’ Superdome on ESPN and was given the assignment of taking the NFL Draft to Primetime. In 2010, Coplin left the NFL to join the NHL as Executive Vice President of Content and just last year, he moved on to launch Big Monkey Entertainment his own production and consulting firm. He is still consulting for theNHL and produced recent major events such as NHL’s Winter Classic, Stadium Series, and Heritage Classic, connecting the sporting events with artists and bands for entertainment throughout the games.
“Larry and his team at Primary Wave have built a unique home for their roster of artists and I’m excited to add my sports and entertainment experience to their already established, in-house resources,” states Charles Coplin.
As Primary Wave’s newest partnership, Charles Coplin will further add to the music marketing company’s already established resources, such as talent management, branding, digital marketing, music publishing, publicity, and a Television & Film production / development team. This additional resource will be yet another outlet for artists to explore and access as being a part of the Primary Wave roster and family.
