Dimension Television announced today that they are partnering with Entertainment One Television (eOne Television) on "Death in the Modern Age," an original series created and written by Josh Shaffer and Eli Kooris. The series will be produced by Bob Cooper's Landscape Entertainment and Michael Fuchs.
"Death in the Modern Age" tells the story of a down-on-his-luck suburbanite who, despite having always played by the rules, faces the implosion of his personal and professional lives in spectacular fashion. He decides to start over and radically reinvent himself by faking his own death. But in today's age of DNA testing and digital fingerprinting that has all but obliterated the notion of individual anonymity, his escape and ultimate transformation prove to be much easier said than done.
"The pilot for 'Death In The Modern Age' blew me away with its original characters and insightful writing. I'm looking forward to working with Landscape and eOne to put together a gripping and original show," said Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company.
"The Weinsteins consistently set the bar for creating exceptional, character-driven content, and we are thrilled to expand eOne's successful relationship with them from film to television," said John Morayniss, CEO, eOne Television. "We are pleased to collaborate with Landscape again so soon after celebrating a renewal of our first-look arrangement, and to partner with Michael Fuchs to bring this inspired story that offers a fresh take on a classic 'what if' scenario to audiences."
"I have always admired the quality, the taste and the compelling entertainment the Weinsteins bring to their projects," Cooper said. "'Death in the Modern Age' is the perfect project to partner with them because it has a unique idea, great characters and surprising twists and turns."
Overseeing production for Dimension TV is SVP of Production and Creative Affairs Matthew Signer and VP of Production and Development, Keith Levine; for eOne Television, John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg, EVP US Scripted Television; and for Landscape Entertainment, Sandy Shenkman, Director of Development.
