THE SPOTS
Three :30s—"Teller," "Tollbooth" and "Bouncer"—showcase the Land Rover Freelander as a vehicle for escapes from the boring routines of everyday life. "Teller" features a driver pulling into a drive-thru ATM, as a female bank employee types on her computer. When she notices the Freelander on her video monitor, she whispers into the microphone, "Take me with you." The scene then transitions to show the vehicle—with the teller as a passenger—driving on the curves of a snowy road, past a rustic chalet with two skiers out front. Suddenly the scene shifts back to the bank, where the perplexed driver finally exits, as the teller calls after him, "I can do exchange rates in my head," "I won’t ask for pit stops," etc. The scene fades to black as a voiceover states, "Presenting the Freelander. From Land Rover, the most well-traveled vehicles on earth." "Tollbooth" and "Bouncer" feature similar scenarios: In the former, a tollbooth clerk "travels" the desert in the Serengeti and the trails of Tanzania; in "Bouncer," a burly guy pleads with a Freelander driver to take him to "wander the Andes and climb the ruins of Machu Picchu."
"Teller" broke Dec. 28; "Tollbooth" and "Bouncer" aired Jan. 12.
