On the heels of a new, musically explosive Target campaign, HiFi Project has promoted Minneapolis Executive Producer, Chris Heidman, to Director of Music Supervision. Under the leadership of company partners, Creative Director Paul Robb and Executive Producers Birgit Roberts and Jack Bradley, Heidman has also just wrapped a second Target campaign for ad agency mono due to launch later this fall.
To view the “Every Day Collection” Target campaign, released over the summer, GO HERE. Heidman completed music supervision for the extensive, six-spot campaign, which featured original songs by Sleigh Bells, Diplo, Fimber Bravo, DJ Snake, White Sea and Swizzymack.
“Chris has brought so much value to HiFi Project since he joined the company two years ago,” explains CD Paul Robb. “Not only has he grown our brand in Minneapolis, a hub of some of the country’s most forward-thinking advertising; his extensive background in the music business and with music licensing has really supercharged efforts in that area.”
“As a former successful recording artist himself, and someone who understands the music industry intrinsically from both a creative and business stand point, this promotion for Chris to oversee Music Supervision for the entire studio is well-deserved,” adds EP Birgit Roberts.
Heidman began his musical career in 1991, forming the pioneering indie electro act Sukpatch. After releasing a full-length on the bands’ own Slabco label, as well as singles on Moshi Moshi, Sub Pop and Mo Wax, they were signed to the Beastie Boys influential label, Grand Royal. During his run with the band, Heidman worked with the Beastie Boys, Modest Mouse, and Scissor Sisters, amongst others. Eventually, Sukpatch wound down, and Chris began offering his production techniques to the film and TV world. Quickly adapting his style, he has created original music and sound design for brands such as XBOX, Subaru, Gatorade, Payless Shoesource, Harley Davidson, Cargill, BMW, 7th Generation, Best Buy, and many others. Even though he is part of the ad community in Minneapolis, he still keeps a firm hand in the music business, producing and managing various artists including Rough Trade-signed buzz band, Howler.
“I’m thrilled to be part of the team at HiFi Project,” concludes Heidman. “The team at Hi Fi has been nothing but supportive of all the projects I have brought into the company; and of the Minneapolis office’s expansion over the past two years. Licensing and artist direct projects for brands like Target and Gap, and an extensive re-brand for the STARZ network have been real highlights. With this promotion, I look forward to continuing to provide our clients Music Supervision services, as well as artist-customized tracks which is a growing area, beneficial to both musical artists and bands as well as advertisers and brands.”
In addition to this recent round of Target’s “Every Day Collection,” Heidman has provided Music Supervision for commercials for Yoplait, Payless, Balisto/Mars, Gap,
Xbox, Gucci, and Cellular South, just to name a few. To view HiFi’s current Music Supervision Reel, CLICK HERE.
