A Sneak Peek At the first panelists/speakers To Be Announced
Among those joining us for the first “Screening Room” session of the day is director Cynthia Wade, who won a Short Subject Documentary Oscar® for “Freeheld” in 2008 and was nominated in the same category this year for “Mondays at Racine.” She will discuss backstory on “Mondays at Racine” and embarking on a new commercials/branded content chapter in her career, having just signed with Recommended Media.
Two of the panelists on the “Fresh Produce” session include Hafeez M. Saheed, Head of Production/Executive Producer, Nickelodeon Creative Advertising and Jeffrey A. Greenbaum, partner in leading entertainment & advertising law firm, FKKS. Hafeez will discuss the passion and development required to be an effective producer sharing insights into the branded and non-branded advertising his team does for clients including Toyota, Target, Hasbro, Nintendo, Nationwide Insurance and many others. Jeffrey adds legal perspective to the overall discussion by answering the question, When advertising and entertainment come together, what is that you’ve created, who should own it, what rights do you need, and what laws apply? And what happens when you add social media and multiple screens into the mix? REGISTER HERE
Adding his expertise to the afternoon panel, “The Visual Flow”, is James Stewart of Geneva Film Co., Toronto, and the L.A.-headquartered Tate USA’s 3D division T-3D. He will discuss 3D relative to post workflow. Also on this panel is Light Iron CEO, Michael Cioni, who will discuss the present and future of mobilized post production and progressive file-based workflow for motion pictures, television shows, and web-based content.
Sharing his experiences from the debut of “Asad” at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival to Oscar® nomination in an afternoon session that will explore the journey from creating good work to creating award-honored work and widely recognized work, is Hungry Man director Bryan Buckley. At last year’s Forum, we were fortunate to have Bryan share the backstory of the making of “Asad,” so we are thrilled that he is joining us for a return engagement to provide insight into his experiences on the film fest circuit and what it meant to receive an Oscar® nomination. Moderated by Gerald Giannone, SPW founder & SHOOT co-owner, this afternoon session will also include Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus, Co-directors & Co-Producers, “Sexy Baby,” a documentary about sex attitudes in the Cyber Age. “Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
With a string of festival appearances across the globe, including CineGlobe at CERN (Switzerland/France), Oscar®... Read More
