rnrnAn adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s masterpiece, “Midnight’s Children” sees Nuttgens again working with long-time colleague, director Deepa Mehta. The story, a magical and epic work tracing Indian independence from Britain, won Rushdie the Booker Prize.rnrnThe film is Nuttgens’ fifth feature with Mehta after the “Elements” Trilogy and “Heaven on Earth.”rnrn
rnrn”What Maisie Knew” is a contemporary telling of Henry James’ 1897 novella about a young girl caught between her parents in a bitter custody battle. Set in New York and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel, the film stars Julianne Moore, Alexander Skarsg�rd and Onata Aprile as 7-year-old Maisie.rnrnBoth of Nuttgens’ films are shot on Super 35, using Arricam LT and Master Prime lenses. For Midnight’s Children Nuttgens used Kodak stocks 5212, 5213 and 5219; for “What Maisie Knew he used 5212 and 5219.”rnrn
