BMG is pleased to congratulate 44 of its writers whose work has earned an impressive array of 42 Grammy nominations including major categories. The nominations were announced last week for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards®, to be held in February 2013.
R&B sensation Frank Ocean was among the most nominated artists this year, landing a remarkable six nods including the highly anticipated Best New Artist award, Record of the Year for the single ‘Thinkin Bout You’ and Album of the Year for his major-label debut Channel Orange.
BMG writer David Gamson is co-writer of the ubiquitous pop hit ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’ performed by Kelly Clarkson which was nominated for Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Solo Pop Performance. Buzzworthy newcomer John Fullbright was recognized with a nomination for “From the Ground Up” for Best Americana Album.
BMG writer Dan Omelio’s work with Maroon5 picked up multiple nominations, with the chart-topping ‘Payphone’ nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and their album Overexposed recognized with a Best Pop Vocal Album nomination.
Nashville had a strong showing with songwriter and artist Will Hoge earning a nod for ‘Even If It Breaks Your Heart’ for Best Country Song. Versatile songwriter and producer busbee was recognized alongside writer Gordie Sampson for Best Country Album for Hunter Hayes’ single ‘Storm Watching.’ Sampson also landed a nomination for Miranda Lambert’s Four the Record for Best Country Album. In addition, busbee earned nods for Clarkson’s Stronger, nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album as well for P!nk’s The Truth About Love, up for the same award.
Others on the long list of BMG writers whose work received well-deserved recognition include John Legend, Estelle, T Bone Burnett, Jeff Hyde and Chris Thile.
