Right on the heels of signing with national production company Superlounge last spring, up-and-coming Director Daniel Sheppard has been on a roll. Sheppard has shot a series of comedic projects for the production company, which went “all-comedy” earlier this year. Sheppard’s new projects include hilarious spots for The Missouri Lottery and The Kansas Lottery. He also just completed a client-direct commercial campaign for Pop’s Hot Dogs in Los Angeles, which was launched online via YouTube and Facebook.

“The project for Pop’s Hot Dogs was a blast,” explains the Director, named one of the nation’s “Directors to Watch” by “Screen Magazine” this summer. “It was great working with a brand who doesn’t mind doing something a bit edgy-weird. It was really interesting working on something where all the humor and performance comes after we wrap. The most challenging thing about it was getting the talent to hit their mark.”
"I love Daniel’s unique twist on things,” adds Superlounge Partner/Director Jordan Brady. “He intuitively knows what makes a great ad. So after Pop’s Hot Dogs agreed to the concept of talking hot dogs, I handed everything creative over to Daniel. The client is blown away, and we have two funny spots for Dan’s reel. Win-win.”
“Superlounge was super duper to work with!” says Greg Potik, owner of Pop’s Hot Dogs. “Jordan, Daniel and their team far exceeded our expectations from the get-go. Pop’s Hot Dogs is a neighborhood joint that serves every age group. With our demographic being so diverse, we wanted a family-friendly spot, as well as an edgy one. We know everyone likes a little something saucy that’s done in good taste, so we let them run with that in mind. Daniel knocked it out of the park, and we are thrilled with our final spots. We cannot thank Superlounge enough for producing such incredibly creative spots for Pop’s.”
Inspired by working with Superlounge, Pop’s is hosting a Comedy Show on December 12th at 9 p.m. in their West Los Angeles location, featuring 12 comics including Jordan Brady, and hosted by L.A. legend Frazer Smith.
In addition to the newest commercial campaign for Pop’s Hot Dogs, Sheppard also directed a spot for The Kansas Lottery with a very funny script from JNA Advertising. “This was a great collaboration that left room to play with the humor,” concludes Sheppard. “It turned out funny and odd. A great combo — right up my alley.”

Bio/Director Daniel Sheppard
Born in Virginia, raised in three countries, four states and a commonwealth, Daniel Sheppard knows a thing or two about writing bios in the third person. He has won countless participating awards for his elementary and middle school sports programs and was named “Time Magazine”‘s “Person of the Year” in 2006. He has an agency background where he spent many nights increasing logo sizes and trying to figure out how they get all those cinnamon swirls into every bite of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Legend has it, he once showed up to work naked with nothing but his normal clothes on. Daniel got into commercial directing when he met a drunk guy that said, “Hey, man. You should direct.” He’ll never forget that day.
