The Colony is expanding its offering as a full service production company in New York with the hires of Angela Bowen as Executive Producer and Sharon Lew as the company’s Director of New Business.
The Colony opened its doors in Sydney, Australia in 2010 and was previously represented in the US by B-Reel Films. According to David Gaddie, New York-based director and company founder, the success of the company over the past two years has allowed the expansion of its US operation into a full-service production company.
“It’s the right moment to restructure here in New York for both The Colony and its New York design/VFX sister company, Afterparty. I’m really excited that we have been able to bring together two such energized people with outstanding experience to meet those goals.”
Angela Bowen, The Colony‘s newly appointed EP, brings extensive experience in commercial production and post production from her position as Executive Producer for Psyop and Massmarket NY over the past seven years.
“What excites me about The Colony is the open forum for exploring production possibilities that best support the creative vision,” said Bowen.
“In my first few weeks we’ve collaborated with a theater designer, CG previz artist, traditional anime animators and turned our studio space into an elements stage. There’s such energy here to explore options, to communicate and strategize, and ultimately to find the right means to tell a story that reaches people in a personal way,” Bowen added.
Sharon Lew, Director of New Business, is an established force within the advertising industry, particularly through her work as Executive Producer at Crossroads Films and through her own company, Lew and Co. She has extensive experience in launching companies, most recently Ntropic and Kyle Edit here in New York. Sharon will continue her position as EP/Head of New Business at Kyle Edit, enabling opportunities for collaboration between the two companies.
“It’s exciting to be joining The Colony at such a transformative time in the business,” said Lew. “This is such a dynamic company and one that is going to carve out a prominent role within the advertising industry. The technology, tools and talent that already exist within the company were very appealing to me. It’s rare to have such a full service production company on the East Coast. The Colony has been strategically set up to deliver great advertising all across the new industry landscape,” Lew added.
