Set in the halls of an all-girl high school, “I Am the Music: A Rock Operetta” takes on the tough subject of cyber bullying, cliques and mean girls. The production features a cast of over 40 people, including 35 Girl Scouts, ages 7โ17, from 23 cities around northern Illinois. Each girl auditioned and was chosen by the producers for her part in the musical.
Battling the epidemic of bullying across the country,nationally renowned filmmakers at Comtech Corporation are partnering with Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois to generate a film that raises awareness of how to stop bullying with the acceptance found in the Girl Scout Movement.
About The Story
“I Am The Music: A Rock Operetta” follows the story of Jenny, a timid girl who is beset by constant bullying at the hands of Claire and her followers. With the help of her new friends,she joins the Girl Scouts. Through the Girl Scouts, Jenny gains the development of character that was missing in her life. She finally stands up to Claire with the confidence she’s gained, slowly forcing the bully to rethink her own life in a similar fashion. Told through a musical styling, Jenny’s courage shines through as she confronts the obstacles in her life within and without. Lives are affected for the better as schoolyard persecution is met with compassion. Brought to you by the creative minds at Comtech Corporation, “I Am The Music” demonstrates that with courage, confidence, and character, you have the ability to change your life for the better.
The program portfolio for the national Girl Scout Leadership Experience includes resources such as the aMAZE Journey for Girl Scouts in grades 6 to 8. At a critical time in their lives when they are searching for their own identities, girls in middle school benefit from a place where they can sort out the twists and turns of relationships. Girl Scouts and the aMAZE Journey does just that, while helping them to sort out everything they already know about friendship and giving them an opportunity to gather tips and strategies for interacting with all the people in their lives through fun, girl-led activities.
About the Producer/Director
Joseph M. Arco – President and Director/Executive Producer: Mr. Arco’s basic interest in film and photography, in the field of communication led him to pursue his interest in Broadcast Television Production. He has worked in a multitude of production capacities including executive producer, writer, producer, director, director of photography and editor. He has been involved in more than 5,000 productions that have taken the form of documentary, entertainment, corporate, dramas, and various commercial, educational and instructional productions.
As President of Comtech Corporation, Mr. Arco on the business side of the multimedia production company is accountable for the overall direction of the business, as well as budgeting, client presentation and profitability. On the creative production side of the business, Mr. Arco functions as the Executive Producer, from project conception, with an intense emphasis on visual interpretation, through final implementation of projects. His leadership has evolved the marketing/multimedia production firm to an award winning entity, serving a myriad of clients, with successful solutions in the latest new media technology, including interactive kiosks and website applications.
