SALT, a design and post production company, along with newly launched sister company Foghorn Productions, has taken the film festival circuit by surprise with it’s short film debut release, DAY AT THE POOL starring Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, Jay Adams and the rest of the Dogtown crew. After winning Best In Festival at the Malibu International Film Festival, Honorable Mention Documentary Short at the Austin Film Festival, and Best Documentary Short at the Irvine International Film Festival, DAY AT THE POOL is poised to surprise audiences at the upcoming 2012 Frozen Film Festival on July 12th in San Francisco, California.nn”A stunning film! “Day at the Pool” is like the Spinal Tap of skateboarding,” hailed the Austin Film Chronicle. “Day at the Pool” sheds new light on the true origins of modern skateboarding, as members of the Dogtown crew reveal that one anonymous kid from the swimming pool suburbs of LA may have been singularly responsible for the skateboarding revolution that redefined adolescent life in America. nnA series of interviews with many of the original Z-Boys, including Jay Adams, Tony Alva, Skip Engblom and Stacy Peralta, reveal the existence of a local talent who was skating inside swimming pools before any of the ‘original’ pioneers, credited as the sport’s founders. Upon further probing, blazing interviews become heated as an intentionally hidden secret is uncovered. Several Z-Boys testify to witnessing a young skateboarder perform maneuvers so profoundly amazing, not even the modern day skate masters could possibly attempt them. The film goes on to present a surprising account of history that first reveals the skateboarder’s identity, and then exposes the Z-Boys selfish motivation for keeping his story secret. nnWhen deciding to make this film, first time film directors Eric Fulford and Ian Douglass knew there would be challenges when questioning the validity of the 2001 documentary, “Dogtown and Z-Boys” and it’s mainstream account of skateboarding history. But their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed, as the two up and coming directors have garnered themselves the People’s Choice Best Director at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival and Best Directorial Debut at the IFQ Film Festival.nnnWatch the trailer online here.nn“Day at the Pool” CreditsnDirectors: Ian Douglass and Eric FulfordnProducer: Drew Bourneuf and Paul AndraosnWriter: Josh GoldnDirector of Photography: Jason BaffanCamera Operators: Jason Baffa, Ian Douglass, and Eric FulfordnCamera Operator (Hawaii): Bill Ballard;nUnderwater Camera: Scott KassenoffnEditors: Graeme Pereria, Eliot Rausch, Ian DouglassnAssistant Editor: Jennifer RyannOriginal Music and Production Audio: Michael GattnProduction Audio (Hawaii): Travis HoovernDIT/Gaffer/Production Stills: Chris SoulenProduction Assistant: Benton ShakelynnCAST (Order of Apperance):nSkip EngblomnDuane PetersnSteve Olson;nDavid HackettnTony AlvanRay FloresnStacy PeraltanCraig StecyknJay Adams;nKevin AndersonnCarole ShakelynWentzle RumlnShane BorlandnBenton ShakelynJim ParkmannEdward ShairbnnAbout SALTnSALT, founded in 2005, as a design, visual effects, and editorial shop with the idea of doing great work with great people in a professional but relaxed environment. ABC Fine Wine and Spirits Embraces Dry January With Cheeky New Ad Campaign
Bacon & Eggs, the creative shop known for its witty, imaginative and disruptive advertising, has created an innovative campaign for ABC Fine Wine and Spirits that playfully tackles the Dry January's impact on its business head-on. Through the campaign, Florida's largest family-owned wine and spirits retailer proudly proclaims its support for Dry January even as it shares its extensive selection of wines, spirits, premixed cocktails and beers found within 127 stores across the state. In the campaign's signature spot, ABC Fine Wine and Spirits cheekily announces its enthusiastic support for Dry January, then proceeds to describe its tantalizing array of velvety cabernets, perfectly frosted IPAs, and smooth whiskeys โ all while insisting, of course, that viewers "definitely shouldn't" indulge in these libations during the month. "Most alcohol retailers either push non-alcoholic alternatives or go quiet during Dry January," explains Kia Zomorrodi, founder and chief creative officer of Bacon & Eggs. "We wanted to flip the script and create something that would resonate with both those participating in Dry January and those who aren't. The campaign's reverse psychology approach lets ABC own the conversation while showcasing its impressive selection in an entertaining way." The campaign arrives as ABC Fine Wine and Spirits aims to maintain brand engagement during a traditionally quiet period for alcohol sales. "This campaign perfectly captures our brand personality while acknowledging the reality of Dry... Read More
