Los Angeles-based Boxer Films has added director Erik Almås to its roster. As a highly talented still photographer, Almås delivers unique, memorable, and award-winning imagery to his diverse clients. He is currently repped as a photographer by Vaughn Hannigan and has worked with clients such as Toyota, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton, Microsoft, Puma, Spanish Tourism, and Nike. In addition to commercial work, Almås also engages his art and beauty sensibilities in projects for top clients in fashion, travel and fine art, often contextualizing the subject within hyper-realistic panoramas. Notes EP Beth George, “We are excited to have a photographer with the skill and talent that Erik does. He brings a wealth of artistic expertise from his enormously successful still photography career and we feel it translates beautifully into moving images.” Adds Almås, “I’ve spent 20 years honing the look that I own as a still photographer and I’m looking forward to expanding my storytelling to moving pictures. Boxer is a refreshingly organic, small shop that is willing to take in and nurture new talentโI think it will be a great fit!”
Born in Trondheim, Norway, Almås moved to the U.S. at the age of 22 and attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He graduated in 1999, with Best Portfolio in the Spring Show and later received an Honorary Degree of Outstanding Alumnus in 2004. While assisting Jim Erickson for three years, Almås was able to get inspired and nurture his own sense of style and sensibility to go out into the world on his own. Pushing himself toward new means of technical and aesthetic expression, Almås embraced the use of Photoshop, to gain access to a new creative extension of his style. In addition to commercial assignments, Almås has embedded a keen photographic vision in his creative collaborations for fashion, travel, and fine art. He has also been recognized twice by Luerzer’s Archive as one of the 200 Best Advertising Photographers World Wide. Almås currently resides in San Francisco, CA, but frequently visits Norway, which he still calls home.

“ฦvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of ฦvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? ฦvolutionย suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence,ย ฦvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating โin the blink of an eyeโ the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called โprogressโ may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
