The LMGA and the Hollywood Teamsters Local 399 have joined together to present “Visual Effects and Locations”, a visual effects seminar targeted specifically towards Location Scouts and Managers. This is the first production of a newly created joint educational committee formed by the Guild and the Union.
To be held on Saturday, January 21st at the Andaz West Hollywood, the seminar’s guest speakers will include: Steve Chapman of Gentle Giant Digital (“Spiderman” and “Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland”) and Brad Powell (“CSI:NY”).
The seminar was the brainchild of Kim Crabb, Co-Chair of the joint LMGA/Teamster Educational Committee and Location Manager on the Showtime TV Series, “Dexter.” “Effects are getting more complex,” said Crabb, “and they’re being used more and more in film and TV as well as commercials. It’s critical that, as Location Professionals, we understand our role in the process.”
Ed Duffy, Business Agent for the Hollywood Teamsters Local 399 agrees. “Our focus in creating this joint educational committee is to help provide the tools for Scouts and Managers to excel in their trade. We’re really excited about this first joint effort!”
Interested Location Pros can sign up for the event at www.locationmanagers.org. Attendees must be credentialed location managers and scouts working in the entertainment industry. Seating is limited.
