The deadline has been extended to Sept. 30 for entries into the second Ciclope International Advertising Craft Festival, which is slated for Nov. 14-16 in Buenos Aires. The festival recognizes the artistry of the production, post and sound communities, spanning such aspects as direction, special effects, animation and audio. Also featured are seminars and workshops from leading artists and specialists.nnIn its inaugural event last year, Cíclope received entries from the U.S., England, Norway, South Africa, Spain, France, Holland, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay and Argentina, among other countries. The festival also drew delegates—including the industry’s most influential producers, directors, agency creatives and business people–from Europe, the U.S. and Latin America.nnCíclope is made possible by the support of the National Institute of Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR), and Shots—as well as many industry sponsors including SHOOT Magazine and The SHOOT Publicity Wire.nnCategoriesnCompetition categories are broken down into the following four sections:n> Live Action: Direction, Art Direction, Cinematography, Visual Effects, Editing.n> Specials: Branded Content, Low Budget, Music Video, New Talent and Mappingn> Sound: Original Music, Sound Design, Adapted Musicn> Animation: 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Motion Graphics, Stop Motion Character DesignnnThere will also be an award for “Best Production Company,” according to a scoring system. The top score is the Grand Prix winner, followed by the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Finalist honors.nnNew juriesnIn recent weeks, four judges have been added to the jury mix. They are:. nn–Helen Kenny, founder of the production company Sonny London, which has turned out award-winning work over the years for brands like Levi´s, Heineken, Bernardo’s and Carling. Kenny will be judging Live Action and Sound categories.nn–Graham Bird, global managing director of noted VFX/animation/post studio Motion Picture Company (MPC).n n–Jakub Kolin, creator of Film Service, a company that has been working in TV commercial production since 1996, with offices in the Czech Republic, Russia, Slovenia, New York and Argentina. The former will be addressed in a session led by Stephen Venning, executive producer of The Mill. He will show the process from concept to execution of a 3D project—what was done, how it was done, the techniques deployed and so on. nnThe second workshop on character design will be headed by Simon Gosling, executive producer of Framestore, an award-winning (including an Oscar) animation and visual FX studio. Gosling will share his vision and present some of the studio’s most iconic characters. nnIn addition to the workshops given, Cíclope will present a special session led by Erik Verheijen, head of broadcasting for Wieden + Kennedy, who will review some of the most stunning creative campaigns from the agency and will share insights into what is expected from an agency producer, the process of selecting a director and new horizons of an always evolving industry. nnAlso scheduled are presentations on the Young Director Award, conducted by Francois Chilot, CFPR president (Europe) and on the AICP Next Awards, run by Matt Miller, AICP president and CEO (USA).nnPost festival tournAfter the 2010 awards ceremony, Cíclope International Advertising Craft Festival began a tour around the most important cities in the world, screening the winners.
