<a href="http://www.harpoonpictures.com.#/index”>Harpoon Pictures, the NY based production company headed by Executive Producer, <a href="http://www.harpoonpictures.com.#/contact”>Chester Mayer, has added director <a href="http://www.harpoonpictures.com.#/directors/jeremy-russell”>Jeremy Russell to its roster for exclusive US spot representation, <a href="http://www.harpoonpictures.com.#/contact”>Chris Miller, Director of New Business Development, announced today.
Known for his knack for being able to get a good performance out of anyone, Russell is a storyteller. His work with kids, real people and celebrities has given him a firm foundation in the dialogue, storytelling and docu-style genres. Jeremy has directed campaigns for a multitude of clients including Optimum, P&G, Best Buy, Walmart and Kennedy Space Center and prides himself on having a keen sense of casting intuition and bringing emotion and heart to his work. He has also directed at length for NASCAR, including a spot for ESPN for Wieden NY, featuring NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. Russell has also worked extensively for Gardner Nelson here in NY on Optimum and the Lustgarten Foundation. His spot entitled “Sarah” for Lustgarten, is a heart-wrenching story of a woman with pancreatic cancer.
“The thing that drew me to Harpoon was the people, they all made me feel comfortable,” says <a href="http://www.harpoonpictures.com.#/directors/jeremy-russell”>Jeremy Russell of his new roost. “They’re honest and very supportive. If I had to speak about all the good qualities of the people there I could go on for pages.” The feeling is mutual, according to Miller. “Jeremy is a warm and engaging individual,” Miller says, adding, “Jeremy’s reel is visually fresh and supported by honest and captivating performances.” “Jeremy’s creative sensibility and enthusiasm make him a perfect fit for Harpoon, and for the business of advertising as a whole,” says Mayer.
When it comes to spots, Russell starts with the story and seeks out the best means of communicating it authentically. “I try to create a very comfortable environment for actors so that they can just be themselves, and I think that for me, casting and performances are always the most important part of shooting a spot,” says Russell.

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
With a string of festival appearances across the globe, including CineGlobe at CERN (Switzerland/France), Oscar®... Read More
