NY-based studio Sonic Union Design/VFX artist Matthew K drums up ‘Likes’ with joke-happy talking heads in seven new Facebook videos: “Infomercial,” “Poetry,” “Fancy Headwear,” “Association,” “Hypnosis,” “Just the Facts” and “Outtakes” for Blue Shield of California out of TAXI, NY. The comical videos star a talking head enthusiastically pleading for viewers to ‘Like’ the insurer on Facebook, the first campaign of this kind for Blue Shield of California. The campaign’s main star is a boisterous man, or more accurately, the talking head of a man, who uses hypnosis, hard facts, puppy dogs and even poetry to win your affection and your ‘Like.’
Matthew K worked closely with TAXI Art Director Johnnie Ingram and Writer Matt Herman to redesign, re-edit and reanimate the campaign. The trio collaborated in-house and in person, which allowed for a lot of creative input in honing and refining the videos under a tight deadline. In addition to the 6 original web videos, Matthew K also put together an “Outtakes” reel, combing through 14 hours of footage to find the campaign’s most hilarious unused moments.
