Sonixphere, a globally-connected resource for music and sound, invites friends and colleagues in the advertising, post and post production industry to join them this Sunday, August 28, for their inaugural “Sons of Advertising Motorcycle Run” in support of the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization which offers assistance to the brave men and women who become injured while protecting our country.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at Sonixphere‘s offices at 445 East Ohio, Chicago. The group will ride to New Lenox, IL and join other riders at the Municipal Center for a hearty hog-riders’ pancake breakfast, then take a scenic and police-escorted ride to Elwood for a music and beer event featuring three local bands. For a donation of $15, participants get to groove together on their “hogs,” enjoy a few flapjacks, then have a brew and hear great music while honoring and helping those who keep our country safe.
“This is my third year participating in the Wounded Warrior Project,” says Greg Allan, CEO and Creative Director of Sonixphere. “Many of my colleagues in the industry share my passion for motorcycle riding and that’s why I started Sons of Advertising (with a nod to one of my favorite FX show “Sons of Anarchy.”). Starting this industry-specific and motorcycle-loving Wounded Warrior chapter was a way not only to promote camaraderie among my colleagues, but also to introduce them to this worthy cause.”
Allan, who rides a Harley Davidson Softail custom and is a father of three, freely admits to being a wannabe motorcycle gang member and has been a Harley enthusiast for years. He has hosted organized group rides in the past, and plans to do one across the United States mixing business and pleasure, while raising money for several charities he supports. Additional rides for the Sons of Advertising are in the works for the Chicago area, and Allan plans to expand the rides to other cities where Sonixphere has friends with hogs.
The donation for the August 28 event is $15. Shotgun riders are welcome to join the festivities. For more information and to sign up, please contact Greg Allan, or visit Sonixphere‘s Sons of Advertising on Face Book for additional details.
