    Goldcrest Post Contributes To Multiple Emmy Nominated Programs

    Goldcrest Post, an independent DI and HD finishing boutique helmed by Managing Director Tim Spitzer and Owners Nick and John Quested, contributed to multiple Emmy® nominated programs this year. No less than four programs were nominated which Goldcrest provided finishing services for. nnHBO’s “Monica and David” and PBS’ “Off and Running” are competing for Outstanding Informational Programming – Long Form, and HBO’s “War Don Don” has been nominated for Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story – Long Form. The New York based facility also produced and finished Oscar nominated documentary “Restrepo” which has been nominated for the National Geographic program “Restrepo: Afghan Outpost” in three categories – Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story – Long Form, Best Documentary and Outstanding Editing.nn

    nnJeanne Sison produced the finishing on the hour long program “Monica and David” about a young couple with Downs Syndrome, preparing to get married. Shot on DVcam, Peter Heady both conformed to HD and color corrected this Tribeca Film Festival winner. Jean Lane, Goldcrest producer, worked with Peter Heady who also color corrected Nicole Opper’s “Off and Running” for PBS (Outfest Film Festival winner) about an African-American teenaged track and field prodigy who, raised by lesbian parents, decides to reach out to her birth mother with mixed results. Sabina-Elease Utley produced the finishing on “War Don Don”, creating a HD master for HBO. “War Don Don” a film by Francisco Bello and Rebecca Richman Cohen follows the trials of Sierra Leone “war criminal” Issa Sesay.nn”Restrepo: Afghan Outpost” was conformed by Peter Heady, color corrected by John J. Dowdell III and produced by Jeanne Sison and Jean Lane for Goldcrest. Goldcrest was instrumental in optimizing the image quality from mixed frame rates and resolution materials. Sebastian Junger, co-director, said “Editing and finishing our film at Goldcrest was really one of the most gratifying aspects of the entire project. The technical expertise that was made available to us was just amazing, the creative sensitivity to the project and subject matter were crucial to our success, and last – but not least – the sense of being in a family was tremendously reassuring. Restrepo was my first film, and I don’t think I could have done it without the incredible enthusiasm, support and friendship of virtually everyone I met there. I really can’t imagine how my experience with post production could have been better.”nn

These feature documentarians shot on a wide array of media and frame rates and all finished to HD masters to large screen projection in our DI theaters.  The finishing was done on our Quantel Pablo IQs and framerate conversions were done using Dark Energy. A full complement of HD and SD decks are available for ingest and creation of Feature/Broadcast deliverables.nnAudionGoldcrest’s comprehensive audio services include Sound Editorial and Design, Foley and ADR Recording for Television and Theatrical. Theater A, our largest 5.1 Mix theatre, is powered by an ICON console and is Dolby certified for Printmastering. Theater B is our primary Television 5.1 Mix Suite and the Foley/ADR Stage serves to complement our Audio services. ISDN and Source Connect capabilities of the ADR stage allows our clients to work with geographically remote talent.
