Tattoo Projects chose ShootersINC to handle post production on their latest campaign for Hoover because when working on spots such as “Dog Pee” and “Vac Wars”, a sense of humor, creativity and plenty of artistic freedom are essential to preserving brand integrity.
ShootersINC (www.shootersinc.com), the full-service post production house, was keen to work with edgy Tattoo Projects on the Hoover campaign. In turn, the agency, known for hip twists on familiar products, encouraged Shooters’ creative explorations in graphics and editing.
“We trust that Shooters will bring fresh new thinking every time,” say Tattoo Projects’ Creative Directors Rudy Banny and Buffy McCoy Kelly. “In fact, we partner with them precisely because we never know exactly what we’re going to get.”
ShootersINC Creative Director Kris Magyarits was tasked with creating the customized end tags for each individual Hoover product spot. Tattoo Projects wanted to match Hoover’s position as the updated, not-your-grandma’s vacuum company, so the treatment and mnemonic needed to nod to the past and reach out to the future.
In the tags, images of a series of vintage Hoover products spin and morph before settling on the highlighted product of that particular spot (WindTunnel® MAXโข, MAXExtract, etc.). The graphic then transitions to the Hoover logo and custom web address at the end.
“The folks at Tattoo are engaged, passionate and collaborative, and that’s really refreshing,” says Magyarits. “They are fully ‘in it’ on each project and give us the freedom to bring a little extra to the job and push the work to the next level.”
Keeping in line with its alt esthetic, Tattoo Projects inked a new image for Hoover. The campaign skews to a younger, hipper audience and features various Hoover products via dynamic camera angles, droll examples and even some Marvel-comic-inspired graphics. Spots such as “VacWars, “Dog Pee”, and “Hoover vs. Pro” showcase Hoover as a vibrant brand and a contender in the marketplace.
“We’re control freaks at Tattoo, but we’ve never feared turning the keys over to our friends at Shooters,” say Banny and McCoy Kelly. “They actually give a damn as much as we do.”
