LOOK Effects’ Hollywood and New York facilities created the visual effects for four television series pilots that have been picked up for the 2011 – 2012 season. “Ringer” and “A Gifted Man” will begin this fall. “The Finder” will begin mid-season and “Awake” has not been scheduled, but will air.
The CW’s “Ringer” stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as a woman who, after witnessing a murder, goes on the run, hiding out by assuming the life of her wealthy identical twin sister. Created by Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder, with Pam Veasey and Peter Traugott as Executive Producers and Gellar as Co-EP, “Ringer” will air Tuesdays at 9pm.
“A Gifted Man,” CBS on Fridays at 8pm, tells the story of a brilliant, charismatic surgeon whose life changes forever when his deceased ex-wife begins teaching him the meaning of life from the “hereafter.” Created by Susannah Grant (also EP) with Jonathan Demme (also directing), Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman producing.
Created and co-produced by Hart Hanson “The Finder,” a drama about an Iraqi war vet with an uncanny ability to find anything or any one, was set up in an episode of “Bones” last month. “The Finder” will begin mid-season in the “Bones” timeslot of Thursdays at 9pm. EP Dan Sackheim directed the pilot episode and David Jeffery Co-Produced.
The Emmy-nominated LOOK has produced all of the visual effects for “Bones” since the first season. “So our previous work with David Jeffery, Hart Hanson and David Sackhiem allowed for a level of trust that we could do what they wanted,” explained visual effects supervisor Christian Cardona. “What was great about ‘Finder’ is that we were introduced into a new world and we had the opportunity to do things we don’t do for ‘Bones.'”
“Awake”, still to be scheduled on NBC, is an intriguing drama about a detective who finds he is leading an arduous double life that defies reality. Created by Kyle Killen. Executive produced by Killen and Howard Gordan. David Slade directed the pilot.
“This was a great Pilot Season for us…the best one we’ve had in my 5 years here at LOOK Effects.'” says LOOK Executive Producer for Television Don Voorhies. “Over half of our pilots were picked up for series, which is awesome. It was really exciting to see our shows getting picked up, network by network, as the announcements were made this week.”
