Creative Editor Teams Up With Fast Cuts For His Big Dallas Return
Fast Cuts, the premier creative editorial and post-production studio in the Southwest, announces the addition of internationally recognized and longtime creative editor Michael Van de Kamer to their roster. Previously the founder of and editor at Post:Op (a Dallas based creative editorial boutique) for almost 20 years, Van de Kamer took some time off to spend with his family and to travel the world. Now, HE’S BACK and ready to jump back in the game with a fresh perspective, dynamic energy, and a new creative outlook.
Michael launched an exciting career in creative editorial and worked on many projects for national brands such as The Home Depot, Wyndham Hotel, Nokia, Pepsi, Miller Beer, Coors, Budweiser, Negra Modelo, Ice House Beer, GM Cadillac, Pep Boys, Interstate Batteries, T.G.I. Friday’s, Chili’s, Walmart, JCPenney, Sears, Neiman Marcus, Travelocity, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, and Southwest Airlines, to name a few. Yet, arguably his most well known piece of work may be Tabasco’s “Mosquito”, which aired nationally for the first time in 1998. Not only was it awarded a Cannes Gold Lion Award for the spot; it remains a household favorite to this day.
"His work is well respected in the community and he has a fantastic reel to show for it," says Fast Cuts President/Editor Richard Gillespie. "I am delighted to have Michael join the Fast Cuts team and am very excited to be able to offer his vision and endless creativity to our clients. I think this will be a great relationship.”
At Fast Cuts, creative editing is performed in six HD offline suites featuring Avid Media Composer, Symphony and Final Cut Pro. Finishing is accomplished in two HD online suites featuring Autodesk Smoke, Flame and color grading in Lustre. Graphics rounds out the finishing experience with multiple workstations that feature the latest in 3D and 2D animation. Audio mixing, music scoring and sound-design happens in two Russ Berger designed audio suites, both equipped with Pro-Tools HD9, surround sound and HD big screen projection for a theatre mixing experience. “Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
With a string of festival appearances across the globe, including CineGlobe at CERN (Switzerland/France), Oscar®... Read More
