jumP has signed hybrid producer Damon Webster as EP for its LA office, considerably bolstering the expansion arm that the studio opened last year. Webster is a veritable powerhouse who can handle interactive, experiential, print, broadcast, social media, broadband, and online content production projects.
Webster has spent more than 15 years on the agency and production sides of the advertising business, churning out campaigns for the likes of Acura, Apple, Blue Cross, BMW, Capitol Records, Clorox, Coca-Cola, Coors Light, Del Taco, Denny’s, Ford, GM Credit Card, Gold’s Gym, Handgun Control, Hewlett-Packard, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Kodak, Land Rover, Levi’s, Lexus, McDonald’s, Mercedes, Microsoft, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Pioneer Electronics, Purina, RC Cola, San Francisco Ballet, Sony, SquareSoft, Subaru, Toyota, US West, VH1 and Wrangler.
The studio’s new EP brings considerable industry recognition with him, as Webster has worked with a range of networks and agencies, including TBWAChiatDay; Berlin Cameron; GSD&M; Ketchum; NBA Entertainment; Goodby, Silverstein & Partners; Fallon; Saatchi & Saatchi; BBDO; Wieden+Kennedy; Y&R; FCB; Fremantle Television; ABC Circle Films; and Warner Bros. He has also produced music videos, most notably for American Idol. His work has yielded CLIOs, Cannes Lions, and the London Art Directors Award, among many other acknowledgments.
"I’m thrilled to be joining a prestigious company like jumP and working on a team full-time again. The LA folks are a solid force and I’m proud to work along side them," said Webster. "In the shifting sands of marketing needs, we are poised to bring our collective experience to the scene, and add all we can to the creative efforts of the community."
"Since we opened the LA office, we’ve been dedicated to producing the quality of work that our long-time clients expect from jumP," noted MD Dee Tagert. "Damon completes that effort, giving us a master of the industry to head up our left-coast operations."
Prior to joining jumP, Webster freelance produced broadcast campaigns and immersed himself in the worlds of new media and social networking. Prior to that, he spent nine years as the head of production at Saatchi & Saatchi LA, where he rebuilt the broadcast production department and the in-house post facility, ran a large staff, sculpted new talent, produced big-budget campaigns, and served on the agency’s exclusive Hollywood TaskForce. He has also spent time at Crispin Porter + Bogusky and 180 LA. Webster spent nearly a decade as a freelance producer on the production side, working in 30 countries.
In addition to his commercial work, Webster is the founder of Photoinduced.com, which launched in 2005 as an innovative, advertiser-friendly broadband channel streaming original, licensed, and existing video to multiple mediums and evolved into a leading social networking site for photography enthusiasts and a petri dish for new advertising methods. The website boasts more than a million page views per month.
His photography work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times. Webster’s subjects have included Manson family member in prison, Bobby Beausoleil, Playboy models, Allen Ginsberg, and musicians such as Bruce Springsteen, the Talking Heads, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Joni Mitchell and Jaco Pastorius. He has published two books on photography, The Paper Engine and Lunch in LA.
Webster serves as a panelist for industry conferences, including the Boards Summit, SXSW, and the ShowBiz Expo. He lectures to master’s classes at UCLA and instructs young advertising professionals in a yearly program for LA 4A, a chapter of the National Advertising Organization.
