Northern Lights is pleased to announce the addition of veteran editor Chris Carson to its growing commercial roster. Most recently of WildChild, Chris has cut well-known spots for Home Depot, Heineken, Ford and Verizon and worked with top name agencies and networks including Saatchi, GlobalHue, Grey, USA Network and MTV.
“Chris is exactly the kind of talent we seek,” says Northern Light’s’ Executive Producer Robin Hall. “He has excellent story telling skills that are clearly visible in his wide range of work. From commercials to broadcast work and music videos, Chris is a great editor and it shows.”
“Northern Lights has a good handle on where the market is going,” Carson says. He’s particularly excited about their new creative/production division, Bodega. “It’s nice to have one company handle everything. I can develop a strong relationship with the person who’s directing the spot and have more of a dialogue with them from the very beginning of the project. That helps the creative process.”
Carson is also a professional drummer and enjoys the free form nature of music videos where it’s all about the rhythm and movement of the footage. He’s been tapped by both Kanye West and Matchbox 20 to collaborate on recent videos. But Chris really thrives on the narrative of dialogue spots where he’s known for cutting in both English and Spanish. “I really love cutting dialogue spots. I like thinking about a story, characters and how to shape what’s funny, exciting or sad.”
Chris’s first project at Northern Lights is the launch of Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen on Syfy, starring Top Chef’s Marcel Vigneron and a co-branded campaign for Kia Motors and USA Network. Chris just wrapped a Pampers spot and a Spanish-speaking dialogue spot for Verizon. He is working to expand Northern Lights‘s reach into the Hispanic market.
