Safehouse Pictures announces the signing of writer/director Joby Harold for Commercial representation. Joby joins veteran commercial directors Randy Roberts, Gavin Bowdin and Charlie Watson. Joby made his first directing entrée into features directing his own original screenplay AWAKE for The Weinstein Company and MGM. Awake stars Jessica Alba, Hayden Christensen and Terrence Howard.
Safehouse Executive Producer Stelio Kitrilakis says, “While I’ve watched Joby’s feature career take off over the past few years I’ve always felt that he could really excel on the commercials side of our business too. He has a remarkable ability to tell a story and a great visual style as well.
On the features side; Joby’s project MOMMY AND ME just received a green-light from Sony Pictures. Based on a story by Joby that he developed at Safehouse MOMMY AND ME has Meryl Streep and Tina Fey attached to star with production slated for spring 2011 with Joby also serving as Executive Producer on the film.
After the release of AWAKE Joby became “in demand” in Hollywood writing the screenplay for ARMY OF THE DEAD for Zack Snyder (300, WATCHMEN) and Warner Brothers. Then adapting comic book icon Frank Miller’s RONIN for Warner Brothers and the adaptation of the children’s fantasy novel SIMON BLOOM for Universal and Gary Ross (SEABISCUIT, PLEASANTVILLE) Joby then sold an original pitch FOUNTAIN CITY with Andrew Adamson (SHREK 1 & 2, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA ) attached to direct, which JOBY is also Executive Producing.
