Full-service animation, VFX and motion design studio Radium/Reel FX, Santa Monica/Dallas and 1080, Austin/San Antonio has announced that they have formed a partnership to allow Radium/Reel FX‘s award-winning editors, Peter Tarter, Quan Tran and Gina Rivas, to cut out of 1080‘s top-of-the-line facilities in Austin and San Antonio. Tarter, Tran, and Rivas will continue to be based out of Radium/Reel FX‘s Dallas and Santa Monica studios and cut “on location” with clients all over the country. The partnership gives clients in Austin and San Antonio access to more diverse editorial offerings and fortifies 1080‘s current roster of editors. 1080 will continue to offer clients its online, color-grading, and finishing capabilities on Radium/Reel FX editorial jobs in those cities.
1080 Austin General Manager Tobin Holden recalls, “About a month ago, leadership from both studios sat around a conference table and said, ‘Why not? Seems like a great fit.’ It’s no secret the folks at Radium/Reel FX are a really talented group. We’re very excited about beefing up the editorial roster at 1080. But the real winners are our clients. Same great shop โฆ more firepower.”
Radium/Reel FX Executive Producer Gary Banks adds, “Expanding Radium Edit to Austin and San Antonio solidifies a strong creative editorial presence for both studios. This new partnership gives agencies the flexibility and options demanded by their clients in today’s production world.”
2010 has already proven to be a very successful year for Radium/Reel FX editorial. Editor Quan Tran won AICE’s Best of Dallas category for his work on the :30, Dickies “Wear With Purpose โ George” for Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing, and was nominated in the National Campaign category. Senior Editor Peter Tarter was also a 2010 AICE nominee.
For both Radium/Reel FX and 1080, making these new offerings easy for clients was paramount. Clients can go through their contacts at either Radium/Reel FX or 1080 to take advantage of the expanded editorial services.

“ฦvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of ฦvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? ฦvolutionย suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence,ย ฦvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating โin the blink of an eyeโ the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called โprogressโ may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
