Hollywood-based Jay Silverman Productions has directed a TV spot for the Wisconsin State Lottery starring animatronic wild Badgers who play doubles tennis!
In the spot, entitled “Tennis Match,” we see a male and female couple aggressively playing doubles tennis against an unseen second couple. The male player says, “Man, they’re vicious” โ the woman says, “These guys are brilliant at their game” as the VO announcer says, “It’s Badger 5 Double Jackpot Days at the Wisconsin Lottery, and the games are really heating up.” The camera cuts and we see that the couple is playing tennis against a pair of wild, life-life Badgers! Near the end of the spot, the male player says, “Nice doubles, guys. Great Game.” The spot, which promotes “Double Jackpot Days” for the WI Lottery, ends with the VO announcer who says, “There’s nothing like a great game of doubles.”
Said Silverman, “The Wisconsin Lottery was in need of Hollywood expertise to implement the idea of wild Badgers actually playing tennis for this spot. We decided to integrate animatronic, puppeteer-operated Badger props, bringing them ‘to life’ as only ‘Hollywood know how’ can deliver. We worked closely with the award wining special effects house Anatomorphex to fabricate and provide these life-like animals, which we then shot on location, at a sunny, Los Angeles tennis court. By aligning with state-of-the-art, Hollywood special effects puppeteers and prop specialists, we were able to present an authentic, humorous and entirely believable spot.”
