Nonfiction Unlimited, a production company specializing in documentary commercials, web and film projects for advertisers, announced today that Nonfiction director Sean Dunne has completed a series of documentary short films for Nike Canada featuring NHL star Steven Stamkos. The “Road to Boom” campaign captures the passion and drive of the rising young NHL star for Nike Canada out of Wieden + Kennedy, NY.
The episodic short films, produced by Toronto-based Suneeva, document the journey of Tampa Bay Lighting center Steven Stamkos, from his formative years and intensive off-season training, to his extraordinary 50-goal season. The three documentaries will screen on Nike’s web site, to be released consecutively as the 2010 NHL season progresses.
"The Nike campaign makes great use of the nonfiction genre", said Nonfiction’s Executive Producer Loretta Jeneski. “Stamkos’ story of how hard he has worked towards his personal goals is a very human one."
The first webisode focusing on Stamkos’ childhood dreams of playing hockey and his current training regime as he works out with former team mate Gary Roberts can be viewed now at: http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/niketraining/en_CA/.
Sean Dunne is a documentary director known for his character driven web and film festival shorts including “The Archive”, a Sundance 2009 film that received over a million hits on line, “Man in a Van” and “The Bowler.”
