FilmLight and Avid will conduct joint demonstrations in Los Angeles this week of a totally file-based workflow for post-production featuring complete interoperability between FilmLight’s industry-leading Baselight color grading system and Avid‘s newly-introduced Media Composer 5.0 nonlinear editing system.
The demonstrations will be conducted on July 28 at Ca’ Del Sole in Toluca Lake, California and on July 29 at Monsoon in Santa Monica, California. The demonstrations are free and open to the public, but require advance registration.
The workflow is principally designed for post-production operations servicing the television and advertising markets and facilitates the seamless sharing of media and decisions between color grading, nonlinear editorial and editorial finishing systems. The sessions will demonstrate a complete post-production workflow from the acquisition of digitally acquired media, through nonlinear editorial, color grading and editorial finishing, via FilmLight’s Baselight and Avid‘s Media Composer 5.0 and Avid DS systems. The workflow enables colorists and editors to collaborate freely, sharing media and decisions. The traditional requirement that the editorial timeline be locked before color grading is eliminated.
Along with the demonstrations, prizes will be given away each day, including a Macbook Pro laptop with Baselight software and a software license for Media Composer 5.0.
