Rok!t® Studio, the motion design division of CIS Visual Effects Group, has created the interactive graphics for the current hit release of “Grease: Sing-A-Long.” The historic bouncing ball of traditional sing-a-longs has been replaced with an innovative and animated version which displays modern technology that is also completely evocative of the era of “Grease,” the original high school musical film, which was released in 1978.
Rok!t has created entertaining graphics, animating the words to eleven of the classic songs. To add to the fun, they have created symbols, pictograms and effects which splash across the screen, enhancing the feel and emotions of the songs. The Rok!t team was led by Executive Producer David Garber and Creative Director Bruce Schluter.
“Working on this new edition of ‘Grease’ was a blast,” says Garber. “While it was a lot of work, it was a great opportunity for our artists to live with the great music and be inspired by it.”
Adam Goodman, President of Paramount Film Group, says “When we hired David and his team, we knew we wanted something beyond the traditional bouncing ball. But the creativity, passion and energy that they brought to this project really blew us away.”
In addition to “Grease: Sing-A-Long,” the designers at Rok!t have produced striking graphics and title sequences for “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” “The Crazies,” “The Wolfman,” “Why Did I Get Married Too,” “Marmaduke,” “Despicable Me 3D,” and currently have “Eat, Pray, Love” and “Gulliver’s Travels” in the works.
Don Fly, President CIS Visual Effects Group, states, “We’re thrilled with the great work our newest division has created. The formation of Rok!t Studio, with David Garber and his team, was a natural evolution for us, enabling us to offer creative title services to our clients. Now we can comply with their additional needs all in-house. Rok!t has been a perfect addition to our group.”
Paramount Pictures presents a Robert Stigwood / Allan Carr production. The film stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John and Stockard Channing as Rizzo with special guest appearances by Eve Arden, Frankie Avalon, Joan Blondell, Edd Byrnes, Sid Caesar, Alice Ghostley, Dody Goodman and Sha-Na-Na.
