Dattner Dispoto and Associates (DDA) has signed production designers Alison Stadler, Gary Matteson and Debra Echard, furthering its goal to create one of the industry’s best positioned design departments.
“Our production design department provides the foundation for us to supply superior offerings to the industry,” says company president Fay Dattner. “When we talk to a DP about a project, they always ask ‘who is the PD?’ and vice versa. By connecting the best DPs and PDs we are effectively building and rounding out the service we provide.”
Alison Sadler has worked on spots for clients including Mercedes, American Airlines, Yahoo, Budweiser, Verizon and Mastercard and has a long-standing collaborative relationships with directors Craig Gillespie, Peggy Sirota and Harald Zwart. With Gillespie, she designed the pilot for Showtime’s The United States of Tara and 2007 feature Mr. Woodcock, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Susan Sarandon, Sean William Scott and Amy Poehler.
Gary Matteson is a gifted and experienced production designer with a background in fine arts, affording him a superior sense of aesthetic restraint and refinement. In addition to extensive commercial work, Matteson’s talents were tapped by the Weinstein Company and Dimension Films in 2006 to design the feature Pulse, penned by Wes Craven and starring Kristen Bell with Ian Somerhalder.
Debra Echard has designed countless high profile spots and videos, for directors including Lance Acord, Kinka Usher, Tony Kaye and Marcus Nispel. She rose through set decorating on features such as Con Air, Deep Blue Sea and Scream.
Examples of DDA’s designer and DP teams include: Mr. and Mrs. Smith, designed by Jeff Mann and shot by Bojan Bazelli; G-Force, designed by Deborah Evans and shot by Bazelli, ASC; The Damned United, designed by Eve Stewart and shot by Ben Smithard; and The Guitar, designed by Marla Weinhoff and shot by Bobby Bukowski.
Spot combination highlights include: PD Deborah Evans and DP Maryse Alberti; PD Brian Branstetter and DP Jeff Cronenweth, ASC; as well as PD Carlos Menendez and DP Ottar Gudnason.
“We have just begun,” says Fay Dattner.
