The filmmakers from U.S. creative production company Shilo are very proud to announce their role in producing numerous brand films for the award-winning “Protect This House. I Will.” campaign from Under Armour, Inc., the originator of performance apparel, footwear and accessories.
This latest project work once again reunites Under Armour creative directors Marcus Stephens and Brian Boring with Shilo’s team, and also leverages the ideation talents of WMIG, Shilo’s creative arm. With Shilo’s co-founder and creative director Andre Stringer serving as director, the newest content consists of a :60 broadcast spot featuring world-class athletes Dez Bryant, Brandon Jennings, Michael Phelps, and Georges St-Pierre, as well as numerous short web films, including individual narratives for each of these athletes spanning up to two minutes in length. These films have been used widely in broadcast and online venues beginning in late February, and can all be viewed online at www.youtube.com/thenewprototype or at Shilo’s recently updated website at www.shilo.tv.
“Under Armour has made ‘Protect This House’ a famous mantra, and their desire to showcase the hardcore discipline of world-class athletes in these new films maximizes our passions for powerful filmmaking,” Stringer said. “Through authentic audiovisual storytelling documenting real performances, we feel these films represent the commitments to integrity and perseverance that Under Armour, these athletes and Shilo are known for.”
According to Shilo partner and executive producer Tracy Chandler, crediting Stringer as the director on these films, and on the recent spot for ‘FELA!‘ on Broadway, is a one big part of Shilo’s evolution. “The commercial advertising industry is changing dramatically, and we’re also evolving,” she began. “With these new Under Armour and FELA films as great examples, we’re seeing that for certain projects, Andre is more of a clear fit, while others appeal more directly to the talents and passions of our creative director and co-founder Jose Gomez, our creative director Noah Conopask, or associate creative director Evan Dennis.”
Continuing, Chandler added, “Shilo as a deeply collaborative entity will still factor into every project we take on, and while certain team efforts will still unite us all, Jose, Andre, Noah and Evan are all immensely talented, and worthy of equal attention as powerful directors and filmmakers in their own rights. Moving forward, our plans are to promote them as directors individually.”
The development of WMIG over the past year is another aspect of Shilo’s evolution which has had a major impact on its work for many clients. For the new Under Armour and FELA! films, concept and writing credits go to WMIG.
“Although we are a very multi-disciplinary group,” said Stringer, “we started Shilo with filmmaking and direction at the core of our approach. All projects in our studio are led with extreme passion, whether they have a live-action, animation or mixed execution. We always put the same unflinching emphasis on storytelling, character performance, and style.”
For his part, Jose Gomez recently led the efforts on Shilo’s “<a href="http://www.shilo.tv.project/Census+Community”>Community” spot from GlobalHue Latino for the U.S. Census, and he is currently at work on several other major projects.
Individual bios for Gomez and Stringer, as well as the company’s best works including the latest spots for the U.S. Census, for “FELA!” and Under Armour, are all available at www.shilo.tv. Complete project credits are available upon request.
