Hybrid production company Global Mechanic has added industry veteran George Tsioutsias to its roster of acclaimed directors. Bruce Alcock, Global Mechanic‘s founder and creative director, has been looking far and wide for creative talent that fills his vision of a truly integrated production company and is thrilled to have found George and to be able to add him into the fold. Says Alcock, “in the business where there is a premium paid for great ideas and execution there of, we are always looking for people who have the perspective of a veteran, but also the edge of a contemporary creative. These guys fit that need perfectly.”
Greek-born Londoner George Tsioutsias’ career took off at the tender age of 9, when he received a pan-European award in painting. He has been a force to be reckoned with ever since. After receiving a first in communication design from the Chelsea College of Arts & Design, he spent years designing and art directing for music and fashion. Ultimately his diverse creative interests converged on the medium of moving image, and flew him right across the Atlantic where he landed a position at Interspectacular New York. Upon returning to London he set up tearapart.tv with fellow artist Theo Michael. George’s multidisciplinary background allows him to work across a wide range of formats including commercials, music videos, virals, title sequences and branded content.
Recent work for Global Mechanic includes: “Vive La Rose” short film in competition at the Sundance Film Festival and recently named one of the top ten films at TIFF (http://www3.nfb.ca/webextension/vive-la-rose/); Drawings an award winning PSA for “Stand: raising awareness for the war in Darfur;” “Bust it or Believe it” first online YouTube campaign with Leo Burnett for Silk Soy Milk; Season 5 for the Emmy Award winning PBS TV show “FETCH” with Ruff Ruffman. In addition, Bruce Alcock’s has just begun preproduction on his most recent film impromptu co-produced with the NFB.
