In celebration of Earth Day, AmericaFree.TV (AFTV) and AdventureFilm.org (www.Adventurefilm.org) are pleased to announce the launch of the Adventurefilm channel on AmericaFree.TV, featuring content focused on how high adventure can drive awareness.
“We are glad to help to get the word out about causes such as saving the planet, or helping the people in these regions,” said Marshall T. Eubanks, CEO of AmericaFree.TV (www.AmericaFree.tv).
Eubanks, who developed the site described how AFTV is expanding into a new audience. “We have content that is more in the legacy area of interest to international viewers. Now, with the high impact programming on the AdventureFilm Channel, we will attract a younger demographic. Clearly this generation is a group that cares about global affairs.”
“We are extremely pleased that AFTV, through its forward-looking commitment to our planet and its people, had helped create this exciting partnership with AdventureFilm” says Mark Reiner, Director of AdventureFilm. “One of AdventureFilm’s major aims is to provide a platform for independent filmmakers telling stories of adventure and environmental heroism. We think the AdventureFilm channel on AFTV will be a great way to further this end internationally and on a larger scale than film festivals alone.”
Earth Day, celebrated worldwide on April 22, reminds us to love and respect the Earth. AdventureFilm inspires with films of epic adventure, cultural diversity, and environmental heroism. AdventureFilm spans a wide range of topics from Alaskan fisherman organizing to stop a large mine from spoiling the pristine waters of Bristol Bay to kayakers pioneering first descents of wild white water in Madagascar while spending time teaching local villagers how to make solar cookers to make potable water. Other films focus on art, sustainability, fly fishing, climbing, conservation, oceans, mountain biking, social justice, skiing, and surfing.
Ryan Fischer, of AFTV, is a climber and adventurer based in Boulder, CO also home to Adventurefilm says: “We are excited to expand the availability of Adventurefilm on AFTV. Adventurefilm currently has festivals in Boulder, Colorado, Santa Cruz, California, Chamonix, France, and Santiago, Chile. By creating the Adventurefilm channel we are making the inspiring environmental and outdoor sports films of Adventurefilm accesible to a worldwide audience that doesn’t always have the means or capability to attend one of the physical film festivals. AmericaFree.TV is broadcast worldwide, but is also available online in many closed regimes in Asia and the Middle East. We are hoping to contribute to the dispersion of ideas that can inspire the kind of social change that is at the core of many of the Adventurefilms.
