Having recently completed work on a stunning new music video for UK dance trio – Chew Lips track “Slick” – The Resident Creative Studio crew headed down to Brooklyn this week to meet the band for the very first time!
With the video becoming the No: 1 most watched video on YouTube in the UK this week, Chew Lips headed to Littlefield in Brooklyn to play a much heralded showcase gig and met Gregory de Maria and the entire Resident Creative Studio crew responsible for creating “Slick.”
Lead singer Tigs described videos as “Really important to us โ it’s a big part of our image as a band, the same way our packaging and art work makes an impression. But I think videos, in particular, really add so much to a song, you really have to create them with care and originality. Resident created something very evocative.”
Band mate – James Watkins – continues “We love the fact that the video evoked ideas and feelings from the lyrics, as opposed to a lot of the totally literal treatments that we get. With a music video, you have a totally blank canvas; it’s your chance to do something really creative and abstract. With “Slick,” the animation style was totally new to us and its very cool as a result.. ”
Resident Creative Studio were also behind the award-winning music video for Coldplay’s enormous global hit “Viva La Vida” last year as well as numerous other music videos and commercials in the past three years since forming.
